A Rare Paavo Tynell "S" Table Lamp Model 9202, Taito 1940s

About the Item

An unbelievably beautiful table lamp by the master of lightings design Paavo Tynell. This lamp is not only sleek, and very different than the other standard Tynell table lamps, it is very rare, even possibly unique with the brass handle, as it usually has a wooden handle on the leg. This is the first example we have been able to acquire in 30 years of business and the only one seen in full brass body. The stem has a beautiful vintage patina that merges well with the rattan shade. To polish this beautifully acquired patina would be a crime almost. The shade in the lamp is adjustable and has been remade with wooden rattan slates as the original was damaged. Tynell lamps were designed by the best lights designer in the world, and were manufactured by his highly skilled work force at Taito and Idman. A combination that is difficult to match or beat until this present day.

Repaired: Inner metal box repainted, rattan shade and shade holder remade. Rewired: Electric wiring has been changed at one point. Wear consistent with age and use. The overall impression is good.
