Stunning & Unique Pure White Art Deco Alabaster Five Light Pendant / Chandelier

About the Item

Early twentieth century work-of-art light fixture. With early 20th century lighting in general (and alabaster fixtures in particular) as one of our specialties, we were again amazed to find a completely unique and highly stylish alabaster chandelier. This remarkable specimen is very Art Deco in style and it actually has a Bauhaus feel to it. It is for that reason that we believe that this unique pendant was designed in Germany. It was most likely handcrafted in Italy, but for a German designer and for a German buyer. We had never before seen an Art Deco alabaster chandelier with the 'arms' adjacent to the center shade. It is a bold design and it must have given the alabaster carvers a bit of a headache to pull this one off. The Italian artisan(s) clearly delivered, because the perfectly carved and polished rings in both the large and the three smaller shades are as good as you will ever see. Mind you, these rings have a rounded edge (best seen in image 4 and 9) and these are extremely hard to create. The depth in this unique and symmetrical Art Deco fixture is unlike anything you ever saw and with the light switched on in the evenings there is nothing like it. There are two sockets inside the large shade and one in each of the 'arms'. Luckily the three smaller shades come off (as shown in image 9), otherwise shipping would have been very challenging (even for us). Apart from a few small chips this one of a kind chandelier is in superb condition and, as so often is the case, it is even better looking in real life. This exceptional light is wired for safe and immediate usage the world over and it can easily take five bulbs of 60 watts each. This is more than enough to create the perfect atmosphere on every occasion.
