Russian 19th Century Neoclassical St. Crystal and Gilt Nine-Light Chandelier

About the Item

A spectacular and elegant Russian 19th century neo-classical st. crystal and gilt metal nine light chandelier. At the base above diamond pendants is an impressive blue glass urn shaped design element. The urn is decorated with gilt stars and foliate and gilt bands with pressed designs of acanthus leaves and foliate that is repeated on all the bands throughout. The central gilt metal band is decorated with crystal pendants and has eight S scrolled arms ending with gilt bobeches and glass saucers. At the center is a ninth light that is inverted and covered with glass beads. Above is another gilt pressed metal band with draping crystal garlands, pendants and circular cut crystal stations joined by garlands. The top crown is accented with crystal garlands and pendants. All original gilt.
