Venini Midcentury "Tessuto" White and Crystal Murano Glass Chandelier, 1970s
By Carlo Scarpa, Venini
Located in Roma, IT
Amazing Mid Century White and Crystal "Tessuto" Murano Glass Chandelier. This wonderful object was produced in Italy in the 70s by Venini. Woven Glass created by Carlo Scarpa for Venini in the 1930s; similar to filigree but obtained using very thin reeds joined with alternating colors and flattened to form strips similar to fabric ribbons, joined and manipulated to obtain the desired design. This is an exceptionally beautiful chandelier due to the state of the piece, the size of the light but above all the subtlety of the Tessuto Murano Glass. A stunning piece of lighting with infinite elegance that will complement an art deco or mid-century living room or entryway perfectly. The Chandelier uses a single E26/27 light bulb. Scarpa was born in Venice. Much of his early childhood was spent in Vicenza, where his family moved when he was 2 years old. After his mother's death at the age of 13, he moved with his father and brother to Venice. Carlo attended the Academy of Fine Arts where he concentrated on architectural studies. Graduated from the Academy of Venice, with the title of Professor of Architecture, he was apprenticed to the architect Francesco Rinaldo. Scarpa married Rinaldo's niece, Nini Lazzari (Onorina Lazzari). However, Scarpa refused to take the pro forma...

Vintage Ceramic Lamp by Marcel Noverraz 'circa 1960s'
By Marcel Noverraz
Located in London, GB
Vintage ceramic lamp by Marcel Noverraz (circa 1960s). A thoroughly modern design with vibrant colours are what propel this ceramic lamp to catch your eye. The patterns defined by the colours are geometric or abstract. They are stunning. Without the lampshade and light bulb housing, the ceramic transforms visually into an elegant vase (see photos) with rounded structure leading to a narrow neck and classic lip. The piece is in good overall condition and currently wired for use in the UK. It can be easily modified for usage in your area. The lampshade is not included in the sale. Please enjoy the many photos accompanying this listing. Upon request a video will be provided. Noverraz' maker's mark on the underside of the piece. About the Artist: Marcel Noverraz (1899-1972) was a renowned Swiss ceramicist who was born in the town of Carouge, near Geneva. He began his career as a painter and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Geneva. In the 1920s, he discovered ceramics and was immediately drawn to the medium's versatility and tactile qualities. Noverraz began working with pottery in 1922, and by 1926, he had established his own studio in Carouge, where he produced a range of functional and decorative objects. He became particularly well-known for his art deco-inspired designs, which were characterised by bold colours, geometric shapes, and intricate patterns. Throughout his career, Noverraz experimented with various techniques, including glazing, enamelling, and firing. He also developed his own unique style, which was influenced by traditional Swiss pottery...
