Rare cocoon floor lamp with brass and cast iron base, produced and designed by A.Eisenkeil. Italy, 1955
Introducing our stunning floor lamp from 1955, a true masterpiece in cocoon, brass, and painted metal. Standing tall at about 160cm, it casts a beautifully diffused light that transforms any space into a haven of sophistication and charm.
With the first prototypes of the Cocoon lampshades, Artur Eisenkeil visited the Milan trade fair. The entrepreneur and architect Dino Gavina was immediately enthusiastic about the new lamp models. Artur Eisenkeil then invited Dino Gavina, Tobia Scarpa, Pier Giacomo, and Achille Castiglioni to Merano for several months to create a series of lights using the Cocoon material at the Lichtstudio production facility. The company FLOS was founded. The series of lamps developed at that time are still among the most appreciated design classics today.
