About the Item
Alabaster, gilt metal and patinated iron floor lamp
Continental, 20th Century
Height 185cm, diameter 40cm
Inspired by Classical Greek architecture, this modern floor lamp would be a magnificent addition to both contemporary and traditional interior spaces. The lamp bowl is expertly carved from white alabaster, the naturally pink and brown colouring adding an interesting design feature. The rock is also used for the stepped base on which the lamp stands.
A slender gilt metal stem extends from the base to the top and is surrounded by a patinated iron frame. Its shape is similar to the outline of ionic columns. Further gold gilt metal detailing adorns the construction jointing the stand to the alabaster bowl. The volutes of the column-shaped patinated iron frame are filled with gilt metal.
This 20th century floor lamp is beautifully crafted and of a sophisticated design.
