Antique French Renaissance Floor Lamp Light Carved Oak Barley Twist Baluster.
Direct from France to us, a magnificent antique floor lamp, large, heavy, solid oak and probably the most ornate carvings we’ve seen on a floor lamp in ten years or more! The masterful hand carvings include French renaissance angel/cherub faces amid carved fruits, scrolls and flowers above the thick, barley twist baluster.
The lower base expands out with more hand carved grapes, hearts, fruits, and florals. Note there are open carvings in several areas, an attribute found in only the most highly skilled carvings.
Carvings are surmounted on a large circular base, supported by three hand carved claw feet. c1890. (Rewired for U.S. standards)
Measurements: 59” ht. x 17” across foot-to-foot edge. 14” lower round diameter; 6.5” upper diameter. 56.25” ht. of wood pedestal.
