About the Item

A 1970s arched floor lamp, consisting of a marble base, an extendable chrome metal shaft, and a molded plastic lampshade in a gradient coffee color. In good preservation and working condition. Dimensions: H: 192 cm. Harvey Guzzini is often mistakenly considered the name of a lighting designer active in the 1960s and 1970s. In reality, the name belongs to a lighting manufacturing company founded by six Guzzini brothers – Raimondo, Giovanni, Virgilio, Giuseppe, Adolfo, and Giannunzio – who were inspired by the 1950 film "Harvey" starring James Stewart. To further complicate the story, it seems that the Guzzini company changed its name several times throughout the 20th century, becoming Harvey Creazioni, Harvey Guzzini, Guzzini, iGuzzini, and Illuminazione Guzzini at various points. Harvey Creazioni was founded in 1959 in Recanati, on the East Central coast of Italy, by Raimondo, initially focusing on the production of decorative objects plated with copper. Four years later, in June 1963, the six brothers joined forces and established Harvey Creazioni di Guzzini, expanding their production to include pendant lights, wall sconces, table lamps, and floor lamps. The brothers enlisted architect-designer Luigi Massoni – introduced to them by the prominent plastic importer Maurizio Adreani – to oversee design, branding, public relations, and advertising. Some of the famous Harvey Guzzini models include the Mushroom desk lamp by Massoni and Luciano Buttura (1965), as well as the Arc floor lamp (1968), Faro desk lamp (1970), and Toledo desk lamp (1973), all designed in-house. Designers Ermanno Lampa and Sergio Brazzoli were responsible for the Nastro Series (1970), Orione pendant lamp (1970), Sirio desk lamp (1970), Alba floor lamp (1973), Albanella desk lamp (1973), and the Alf Series (1976).
