About the Item

Floor lamp in brass, polished nickel finish. Lamp shade with embroidery and fringes. This chic and sophisticated floor lamp can be used for reading or just to lighten up a space. It’s called the martini floor lamp because of its shape and for being a favorite drink of the 1930´s in New York. One of the fabrics used for the shades is a Pierre Frey linen that overlaps traditional Japanese theatre masks in bold colors. Multifaceted forms of cubism reveal a special geometry of Art Deco, which also combines elements of expressionism, prehistoric art, as well as cubism, fauvism and the beginning of abstraction. The second lamp shade is also a Pierre Frey fabric, a French moiré, elegant and classic.

Art Deco Style Brass Table Lamp with Painted Brass Shade
By Loyzaga
Located in Mexico, Ciudad de México
Brass table lamp with painted red brass shade. This lamp is in a style that we call eclectic historical, combining Egyptian, Roman, English and neo classical elements. The history of eclectic style spans all the way back to the 18th century. The word eclecticism actually comes from the Greek word “eklektikos.” It was commonly used in philosophy and encouraged picking the best doctrines from multiple schools of thought, then combining them to create a completely unique school of thought, specific to the person choosing the doctrines. The influence of the ancient cultures...

Art Deco French Lamp Mazda Style in Nickel and Golden Brass 'Without Lampshade'
By Mazda
Located in Prato, Tuscany
We kindly suggest you read the whole description, because with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects. Elegant and linear lamp in nickel and gilded brass; the solid round base with two steps, supports a brass sphere from which departs a stem with a refined, harmonious, and proportioned shape; at the top of the stem, there is a small but massive brass disk above which was placed the point of light with the attack for a lampshade (not supplied). The lamp was produced in Paris between 1960 and 1964 in a laboratory for the metalworking, it was a very well-equipped and specialized laboratory because the polishing and finishing of the two metals used were obtained with precision and meticulousness of the highest level; in the process of polishing the piece was worked with wheels of natural ?bre, combined with a very fine abrasive paste, then using other types of wheels it was possible to obtain a perfect polishing so that even the reflection of light becomes more uniform, giving the surface in question the typical bright appearance. These master craftsmen have made the lamp with their own design in Mazda style, by the concession of the Mazda Company itself without being able to affix the brand but following strict production patterns, the original table lamp style "Mazda Lamp" fascinates for its Parisian design of the thirties, simple and functional Art Deco; The successful combination of these mixed materials and refined colors have created a preciousness rich in contrast but very harmonious; in this lamp quality, elegance and fine workmanship are the focus of attention. Here the creativity of the designer and the art of craftsmanship come together to create an exclusive product, a unique modern furnishing accessory, refined and elegant at the same time, which adapts naturally and simply to both contemporary and classic environments. Mazda is a brand created within General Electric in 1909 and in addition to incandescent bulbs, had a prolific production of lighting and furniture of the highest quality, was chosen this name because of its association with the deity Ahura Mazda...

Art Deco Articulating Desk Lamp. 1939 NYWF Rare Simulated Metal Leather
By Donald Deskey
Located in Peoria, AZ
Rare and Striking! Art Deco Metal & Brass Articulating Desk Lamp With Faux Leather Enamel Circa 1939 At the time of the New York World's Fair of 1939, designers architects and engineers were all inspired to bring about and summon "The Future!" This extremely rare lamp is a great example of the designs, ideas and aesthetic of this momentous period! Here an articulating brass banded drum shade swivels on a great expansive brass arch! Arches added a sense of drama and importance to an object and were used very successfully in this time period to bring both formality and dynamism to furnishings! This drum shade beams light where desired and it is covered with an enamel pattern designed to look like leather. This element is very rare and is one of the first industrial age examples of decorating metals and plastics with "natural" patterns. This would become fairly common place decades later as the "wood" trim on cars was decorative plastic and before that, contact paper was introduced to a design conscious public. At this time, several extremely high end desk lamp designs featured leather wrappings, particularly those coming out of Europe, who were still employing more handmade furnishings. So this design feature was not just a random whim, but an effort to convey "old world" imagery to a very industrialized product. Now, almost 85 years later, as most leather wrapped lamps...
