Alexander van Straten (1962) is an (interior)architect and artist-designer. His furniture designs are easily recognized by the architectural aesthetics they possess. Each high-end product is intended to enrich the living space. Alexander thinks of his works as objects of comfort and memory, pleasure and beauty. That is why his pieces are certified and produced in limited numbers. Alexander: “I believe that furniture design is at its best when it is unpolished and pure. Our furniture and objects are mixtures of natural products and handcrafted quality artwork. My driving force: giving soul to design with beautiful proportions, essential materials and the power of simplicity.” Alexander van Straten established his company in 1995. Alexander always designed furniture for his architectural projects. He is the first Dutch designer featured in Wallpaper magazine. He is also credited with award-winning architecture projects: The New American Home™ in Las Vegas, Findus Norway urban design and the interior design of Nieuwspoort, Dutch society and international press center in The Hague. Alexander designed for Cappellini in Milan before launching his furniture design atelier under his own name in 2005. Now Alexander van Straten brings his collection to 1stdibs for a worldwide audience.
