About the Item

Sometimes a light is more than just functional. This floor lamp by Tony Zuccheri for Mazzega is an object of presence — bold in construction, quiet in detail. Zuccheri, best known for his inventive work in glass, collaborated with the Venetian glasshouse Mazzega to develop pieces that blurred the lines between lighting and sculpture. Design This model is composed of three vertically stacked blocks of clear, thick Murano glass, each deeply textured with a web-like surface. The pieces are fixed between slim metal supports, which run along the edges like a framework holding the mass in place. Viewed from the front, the lamp reads as a monolith — a column of light with glowing interior spheres subtly revealed through the uneven glass. The design allows light to pass through with a diffused warmth, softened by the irregular inner patterns of the glass. When lit, the inner bulbs activate the texture and depth, giving the piece a glowing inner complexity. The base is simple and solid, anchoring the vertical form. Zuccheri was known for taking natural forms and applying a controlled architectural logic to them — here, glass becomes both organic and structural. Mazzega’s handblown technique plays an essential role, introducing irregularities that are never random but always alive. This floor lamp sits at the intersection of design and craftsmanship. It’s a clear example of Zuccheri’s sculptural approach, paired with Mazzega’s material expertise. Condition The lamp is in good condition. Some light surface wear and age-appropriate patina are visible on the metal and glass elements.
