About the Item

Late 19th century french ormolu/gilt bronze arrow-shaped floor lamp by Maison Jansen By: Maison Jansen Material: metal, bronze, cord, ormolu, copper Technique: cast, gilt, molded, metalwork, patinated Dimensions: 14 in x 14 in x 62.5 in Date: late 19th century Style: Empire Revival, Neoclassical, Art Nouveau Place of origin: France An elegant late 19th century french floor lamp designed by prestigious decor firm Maison Jansen that features a towering gilt bronze arrow form set upon an ornate three-legged base. Crafted using the time-honored ormolu technique of mixing powdered gold with molten bronze, the lamp's arrow-shaped stem and footing glimmer with gilded detail, including decorative Art Nouveau-style plant motifs along the base. Founded in 1880 and shuttering operations in 1989, Maison Jansen embodied both high parisian style and global reach, its classically-inspired Empire Revival and Neoclassical furnishings gracing interiors from Europe to the Americas. Evoking both 19th century french splendor and Jansen’s legacy as an arbiters of taste, this gilt arrow floor lamp stands as a stately historic accent piece. The cable is missing the plug connector that inserts into the electrical outlet.
