Treetops Floor Lamp USA 110 Volts, by Ettore Sottsass for Memphis Milano Collect
Located in La Morra, Cuneo
Here you are shown the US wired "Treetops" floor lamp designed by Ettore Sottsass in 1981 in metal with halogen bulb. Ettore Sottsass was born in Innsbruck in 1917. In 1939 he graduated in architecture at the Politecnico di Torino. One of the most influential and important figures of the last century. As an Architect and Designer, he has participated in all radical movements whether created from the 1970s and 1980s. In 1981 he founded the Memphis group, a group that has radically changed the scenario of Italian and world design. Honored with numerous international awards, was winner of the Golden Compass in 1959. He designed the first laptop "Valentina" by Olivetti. He died in 2007 at the age of 90 years. Memphis Milano is the great cultural phenomenon of the 1980s that revolutionized creative and commercial logics in design. Born from the idea of Ettore Sottsass and a group of young designers and architects, in Milan, coupled in the years by famous designers from the international scene, Memphis turned upside down all of the existing parameters on living. Ettore Sottsass as the backbone of the group, design gained a new concept and expression through new shapes, materials and patterns, expanding the creative limits of the industry. Memphis became a symbol of New Design. Its influence is still clear in various sectors of production and beyond. Additional Info: - Dimensions: H 76.75 inches, Base W. 10.75 inches, D. 40.25 inches. - Materials: Metal. - Color options: Available in yellow fixture, orange stem, turquoise knob and mint green base; or in an orange fixture...

Fontana Arte "Optunia" Floor Lamp Designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune
Located in Brooklyn, NY
"Optunia" is a floor lamp, designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune and manufactured by Fontana Arte, featuring a structure in cast aluminium, available with paints in white, onyx or glossy black nickel-plated colors. Molded cast glass, frosted and painted from behind, working as a diffuser. Base in painted metal. Power source housed in the base for the wall and ceiling versions, in the breadboard for the hanging version or onto a peg in the table version. It's provided with a dimmer inserted on the electrical cord and lighting sources are two 11W LED (3000K, CRI>80, Lumen 1384 + 1384). "Optunia" is a collection of lighting elements available in four variants for tabletop (with or without stem), floor, wall and ceiling. Its functionality lies in the possibility of rotating the two discs that make up the nearly 360 degrees head, opening up an extraordinary number of lighting combinations. The lower disc rotates on one axis, while the upper disk simultaneously rotates on a second axis, perpendicular to the first. This double movement gives "Optunia" the advantages of both direct and indirect light emission, exploiting the surface of the wall or ceiling to produce a soft light. Complementing its functionality, the design of such lamp is reminiscent of a form found in nature: the two disks resemble the pads of the prickly pear called "Opuntia ficus-indica", from which the lamp takes its name. A collection of exceptional technical sophistication, whose form is further emphasized by its colors: opaque white, bold and clean, dark mirrored chrome, recalling the preciousness of metal, a darker shade resembling onyx and quartz color, shifting from dark brown to black. Claesson Koivisto Rune is a Swedish architectural partnership, founded in Stockholm in 1995 by Marten Claesson, Eero Koivisto and Ola Rune. It started as an architectural firm, but has since become an internationally acclaimed and multi-disciplinary office with an equal emphasis on both architecture and design. They were the first Swedish office exhibiting in the international section at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2004, they are also responsible for award-wining projects such as the Tind Prefab house collection for Fiskarhedenvillan, Widlund House private villa on Öland, Örsta Gallery building in Kumla, Sfera Building culture house in Kyoto and Nobis Hotel in Stockholm. They design for well known international companies such as Arflex, Asplund, Blueair, Boffi, Capdell, Cappellini, Casamania, David design, Discipline, Dune NY...
