About the Item
A sensational and high quality pair of French 19th century Charles X st. Ormolu and Malachite floor lamps. This stunning pair of torchières is raised by a striking triangular bases with concave sides, handsome paw feet, and a fine wrap around foliate Ormolu band. Each side displays a recessed fitted Malachite plaque set within a mottled Ormolu frame. An elegant Malachite plinth rest atop the base before a triangular foliate mount, acanthus leaf socle, and palmettes leading to a laurel band accented with rosettes. At the midsection are wonderfully tapered Malachite reserves, below a foliate capital and reeded central support. The reeded support tapers slightly before leading to a foliate mount and the gadrooned top cap with an egg and dart rim.
