About the Item

A rare Swedish mid-century floor lamp produced by the manufacturer Fagerhults Belysning in the 1960s. Made from brass with three lamp holders and a beautiful cylindrical shade upholstered in original purple textile. Each arm has an individual light switch mounted underneath the lamp holders. This is a great example of Nordic modernism with a minimalist, yet beautiful aesthetic. The lamp is unusually tall and heavy, with high-quality details. Fagerhults Belysning was founded in the mid 1940s by Bertil Svensson, who built a floor lamp shaped as a question mark to his mother in 1943 as a Christmas gift. Encouraged by his mother, he soon started serial production and one lamp after another was created in the small factory. In the 1950’s, Fagerhult gained recognition for the iconic ‘Festival’ chandelier, designed by Gert Nyström.
