“Venticinque Senior” adjustable floor lamp for Candle Sergio Asti for Candle

About the Item

This floor reading lamp was designed by Italian architect Sergio Asti in 1968 and manufactured by Candle as part of the series "Venticinque" (25 in Italian). The series featured three sizes: the medium flood lamp (Venticinque), the table lamp (or "25 Junior"), and the taller ("25 Senior"). The one that we offer for sale is the taller model, with an height that can be set between 120 and 170 cm. This lamp was shortlisted for Compasso D'Oro award in 1970. Candle was a very active lighting company based in Milan, that was later acquired by Fontana Arte. The height of this lamp is adjustable and the stem fully rotates around its axes. The shade also rotates so the light can be pointed downwards or upwards, but it also features a small hole so some light pours also in the opposite direction. The combination of these factors creates many lighting options, in a true innovation of a simple shape as the standard reading lamp, brought back to its essential lines and yet enrichened in its functional possibilities. The lamp remains in good vintage conditions, with patina, oxidation and minor wear on the stem. No dents. Period wiring and switch in working conditions but not fitting the current standards.
