About the Item
Circular glass flush mount light with ice block pattern by Kaiser Leuchten, Germany, 1970s.
The heavy shade comprises a single piece of thick clear glass folded around a white metal frame, held in place with three steel screws. An impressive piece of glass, in good shape, with an abstract design reminiscent of blocks of ice; a very unusual and almost futuristic variation on this Kaiser design. The frame is designed to leave a small gap between the glass and the ceiling.
Overall the fixture is in good original condition; there are minor signs of use to the metal parts as one might expect from a piece of its age, including slight dis-coloration and corrosion of the mounting plate. Due to the age of these pieces, and the making process, there may be small imperfections or nicks in the glass.
Wiring and Bulbs:
The light takes three large screw-fitting bulbs (E27) and has its original wiring - we advise this is tested or replaced as necessary in the country of install to ensure it meets your local needs and regulations. We recommend the use of low heat bulbs to protect the fixture for the future.

Wiring:
The original wiring has been partially removed, and will need to be replaced prior to install. The original bulb-holders took E27 screw-fitting bulbs; as with all vintage pieces we recommend the use of low heat bulbs to protect the fixture for the future. There are two holes on the plate for installation (fixings not included). The diffusers simply rest in place, and can be removed for shipping.
This design is believed to have been created for the Enso-Gutzeit headquarters in Helsinki, which was designed by Aalto and completed in 1962. Idman Oy were a manufacturer of high quality lighting by designers...
