Great Mid-Century Modern ceiling light with brass finial & canopy and a unique art glass shade. This midcentury made, three-light flush mount is another one of our recent rare finds. With 20th century (and older) light fixtures as one of our specialities we always love finding lights that we have never seen before. Anyone who knows about these large, midcentury flush mounts will immediately realize that this art glass shade is extremely unusual and highly decorative and attractive. The opalescent blue, ripled-like-water surface of this striking shade makes this particular flush mount stand out from anything that we ever saw. It may be a little difficult to see in our photos, but this blue very much resembles the opalescent blue that, for example, René Lalique used in some of his art glass sculptures and vases and dishes. The light blue glass is captured inside a brass ring and combined with the brass finial and canopy, this very rare light looks great, no matter from what distance you see it. The combination of the design and the unique rippled surface gives this light a highly stylish, but also a very tranquil look and feel. So much so, that this work of lighting art will work in various living spaces and in all kinds of interiors. Unfortunately we don't know who the designer or maker is, but judging from the pure midcentury design and the quality materials, we feel, this can only be by one of the good names in Midcentury design. There is a metal hook inside the height adjustable brass canopy via which you can easily and safely mount this rare fixture tight to your ceiling, in just a matter of minutes. This light has the usual wear to the brasswork (consistent with age and use), but, as so often is the case, this light too looks even better in real life than in our photos. Both with the lights switched on and off this handcrafted work of beauty is an absolute joy to look at and it will perfectly balance your living space.
