About the Item
Lisa Johansson-Pape(1907-1989) was a Finnish designer best known for her works in lightings. She paid more attention to the function of the lamp firstly, then the design feature secondly.
Lisa designed furniture for Stockmann for a number of years, after which she turned her attention to lamps, also at the Stockmann owned company Orno Oy. Lisa won a number of medals for her lighting designs in the Milan Triennials in the 1950s.
This flush mount came in white painted metal and opaline glass, although this lamp has been repainted blue at some point. This type lamp was used in public buildings as well as private homes. It is geniously simple in design with the typical minimal Finnish touch to make it stand out from the crowd.
This lamp is stamped Orno.
