About the Item

[Note] This item is sold as is, with no wiring installed. Voltage and plugs vary by country, so please have an electrician install the wiring yourself. While the item's category may indicate plug-in and voltage, please ignore this. This is a Japanese brass hanging lantern made between the Taisho and early Showa periods. Highly decorative, these lanterns were typically hung at the entrances of inns and stately homes, or under the eaves of roofed buildings, gently illuminating visitors. They were likely installed in sheltered locations rather than outdoors, and as such are in relatively good condition. Over the years, the original brass shine has faded to a deep, subdued color, and a beautiful patina has appeared on the surface. This aging is not a sign of deterioration, but rather a unique texture characteristic of old metal products, an element highly valued by modern antique enthusiasts and interior designers. The body is decorated with delicate openwork carving, and Japanese designs such as chrysanthemum petals can be seen throughout the upper part, as well as arabesque patterns and family crests. The door is engraved with the Chinese characters "Tenka Taihei" (peace and prosperity), a wish for peace and stability in the world. The design embodies the aspirations of the people of that time. The door can be opened and closed, allowing for the installation and replacement of light bulbs and candles. Although it was once used as an electric light, all old wiring has been removed. It is currently sold without wiring, and we recommend that you have a licensed electrician or lighting technician install new wiring in accordance with your country's voltage and wiring standards. In addition to being used by hanging it, it can also be placed directly as indirect lighting, making it a striking piece of interior décor. This is a historically valuable piece that embodies the beauty of Japanese craftsmanship and the culture of prayer. Chinese or Japanese antiques/Before the 19th century
Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
This is a very interesting old copper vase, believed to have been made in Japan or China. Its distinctive shape and high level of decoration make it a gem that stands out among the many copper vessels I have seen. The body is cylindrical, with a tightened shape at the top and bottom. The legs are slender and tapered, giving the overall design a beautiful sense of tension. This “tapered hem” design lends a special elegance to the vase's appearance. In terms of decoration, the intricate patterns encircling the upper and lower bands are particularly striking. These patterns are geometric abstractions of clouds and dragons. On both sides, small designs resembling animal or dragon faces are attached, adding to the elegant decorative beauty of the design. The copper surface has a deep amber luster from years of use, and the patina from aging captivates the viewer's heart. There are some dents and signs of use on the surface, but these are also charming elements that testify to the fact that this vase has been cherished and used for a long time. When half-filled with water and left for 24 hours, no leaks were detected. It is practical and can be used as a flower vase. Whether filled with fresh flowers, branches, or dried flowers, it will add a sense of sophistication to any space and make a statement wherever it is placed. The accompanying paulownia box is inscribed with “Tang Dynasty Ming Dynasty Antique Copper Vase...
