About the Item
A charming French lantern from circa 1920, this hanging fixture features a sculptural interplay of wrought iron and verdigris-patinated copper, forming a delicately domed cage with botanical accents. The open framework is defined by arched iron ribs and squared vertical supports wrapped in hand-forged copper leaves, creating a light and airy silhouette with naturalistic character.
Inside, a four-light cluster centers the composition, its candle-style sockets arranged around a cast iron finial. The patina on the copper foliage contrasts beautifully with the darker iron, offering a layered, timeworn finish that evokes the romantic sensibility of early 20th-century garden and conservatory lighting. A decorative crown tops the domed structure, and the fixture hangs from a linked iron chain with canopy included.
