About the Item
MASSIVE PAIR OF HUGH DOUGLAS COPPER STARBOARD AND PORT SHIP LANTERNS
Each with applied relief maker's plaques and serial numbers of 148 & 149
Item # 301PJO23A
A nice pair of original ship lanterns from the early 20th century by the firm of Hugh Douglas in Liverpool, England, they feature a well-preserved and developed overall surface patina and are entirely original. Both have various dings, abrasions and tarnish from active use at sea and are very substantial, measuring in at 28" in height when the handles are lifted.
Measurements: 24" H (with handle down; 28" high with handle lifted) x 12 1/4" D x 13" W
Condition Report:
Surface left in as-found tarnished and oxidized condition; it can be buffed out upon request if a more "new and shiny" surface is preferred though natural discolorations and surface history will remain. Oil lamp elements untested for functionality and will likely need some conditioning to be used with oil. Various dings, abrasions and discolorations.
