Vintage Gilt Bronze Six-Light Hall Lantern, Late 20th Century

About the Item

An exceptional and impressive huge gilt bronze six light hall lantern, dating from the last quarter of the 20th century. This superb decorative lantern is finely cast and chiseled in solid bronze, of tapered form, the shaped brackets supporting satyr masks to each vertex with folate decoration between, the underside with further conforming ornament and finial and the bow glass panels beautifully engraved with sunburst patterns. It takes six light bulbs, three in the upper part and three in the lower part. This high quality hot cast solid bronze lantern was produced using the traditional "lost wax" process, otherwise known as the "cire perdue" method. There is no mistaking its superb quality and very grand scale, design and the fact that it looks amazing from every angle. Condition: In excellent ready to use condition.     A large vintage bronze Neoclassical Revival sculpture of Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix, by Antonio Canova, signed and dating from the late 20th Century. She is staged as a half-naked beauty on a couch, her head resting on her right arm, holding an apple in the left hand. The patinated bronze sculpture features gilt high-lights and is raised on a black marble base. It bears the replica signature of the artist, Canova. The original can be seen at the Museo e Galleria Borghese, in Rome. "Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victrix", (Venus Victorious), is probably the most famous work by the Italian sculptor Antonio Canova. Pauline Bonaparte, sister of the French statesman Napoleon, insisted on being portrayed as Venus by Canova in 1807. Condition: In excellent condition, please see photos for confirmation.
