18th Century Dragon Wall Lamp with 3 Lights in Silver Bronze

About the Item

This model is the daring marriage of a light arm with floral inspiration, typical of the first XVIIIth century and the Louis XV style and a dragon of Asian inspiration. It is composed of a plate from which three arms imitating scrolls covered with leaves rise, topped by a cup in the shape of a starry flower, carrying a bobèche similar to a Constance Spry rose. This part of the sconce can be compared to the one in the collection of the Louvre Museum dating from 1740, as well as to the models designed by Besniers and Roettiers in 1740 for the small Gallery of Versailles. The three arms are, however, less tortuous than their rocaille counterparts, in order to contrast with the body of the dragon that coils around them. The latter is curled around the scrolls. We have one pair in stock however we can produce them made to measure and in other finishes such as natural bronze, 18k gold, 24k gold, nickel, black nickel (or any bespoke finish). Our Company may also customize sizes or make any modifications on original design.
