About the Item

From late 1960s large sculptural sconce like a painting back lighted in golden aluminum in multi-color Murano glass by Angelo Brotto for Esperia. BORN IN VENICE IN 1914 AND PASSED AWAY IN CAMPIGLIA MARITTIMA IN 2002 AS ANGELO BROTTO. PROF. BROTTO DIPLAMED AT THE VENETIAN SCHOOL OF ART IN 1939, PRECOMPARTED AT THE MOST FAMOUS VENICE EXHIBITIONS EXHIBITING SOME OF HIS WORKS. HE GRADUATED FROM THE VENICE ACADEMY OF FINE ARTS IN 1941 AND DISTINGUISHED HIMSELF BY WINNING ALL THE UNIVERSITY COMPETITIONS. THE PATH OF THIS YOUNG CREATIVE ARTIST WAS CONSOLIDATED BY WINNING IN 1940 THE FIRST PRIZE IN THE 'NATIONAL COMPETITION FOR WOMEN'S FASHION' AND IN 1941 THE FIRST NATIONAL PRIZE FOR ENGRAVING FROM THE MINISTRY OF EDUCATION. IN JUNE '41 HE RECEIVED HIS FIRST PRESTIGIOUS COMMISSION FROM THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS TO EXECUTE IMPORTANT FRESCOES IN MONTENEGRO. THIS WAS A FLORIDO PERIOD FOR ANGELO, HE EXPOSED IN MANY BIENNIAL TRIENNAL AND QUADRIENNAL EXHIBITIONS, PARTICIPATING IN EVENTS, PERSONAL AND COLLECTIVE EXHIBITIONS IN THE MOST IMPORTANT ITALIAN CITIES. HE WINS GREAT PRIZES SUCH AS THE BERGAMO PRIZE, THE CREMONA PRIZE, THE SUZZARA PRIZE, THE VERONA PRIZE AND THE FIRST PRIZE AT THE EXHIBITION OF ENGRAVINGS IN ROME. BROTTO DOES NOT DENY TIME TO TIME TEACHING DECORATION AT THE VENICE INSTITUTE OF ART WHILE HIS WORKS ARE BOUGHT BY MANY PRIVATE GALLERIES AND MUSEUMS OF MODERN ART SUCH AS ROME, VENICE AND TRIESTE.
