About the Item

A large scale and most decorative pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu sconces. Each exquisite three arm sconce is centered by foliate decorated bottom finials that are attached to the fine square back plate. Flanking the centrally located profiles are a pair of berried laurel vines and the three 'S' scrolled arms with additional swaging berried laurel vines hanging atop each arm. The 'S' scrolled mottled arms are designed with fluted patterns at their base and acanthus leaf decorations that lead to the highly decorated bobeches. Each bobeche supports the foliate and fluted designed candle cups above. Above the oval profiles are lions with flowing manes holding a bar in their mouths. *Shades shown for display purposes, sold separately.
