Italian 18th Century Giltwood Pricket Sconce from Red Tall Processional Torches

About the Item

An exceedingly rare and impressive Louis XVI period Italian three-light sconce realized with three red processional pricket torches, more than eight foot tall. Red Procession Sticks have octagonal section, are joined together by a central pin, to form a group of three torches that are placed against the wall and remain away from it in the upper part where a lamp holder powered by an external electric wire has been fixed. Working European standard wiring. Original from the 18th century, decorated with a lovely foliate and acanthus leaf carving, these wall lights are a unique artwork creation of an Italian craftsman. Original gold-leaf gilding with squares decorated with red and green aniline. In good age related condition, with signs of wear and gilding losses. They come from a private villa in Milan. This remarkable religious decorative objects was exquisitely hand-carved in Northern Italy in the early eighteenth century. This antique monumental sconce is shipped from Italy. Under existing legislation, any artwork in Italy created over 70 years ago requires a governative license for export called Belle Arti. The shipping may require additional 2-3 handling weeks to require and get the license according to the final destination of the artwork.

From Northern Italy a rare set of six 18th century gilt wrought iron arms, candle holders, hanging lantern brackets suitable as sconces, if you wire them. These iron arms are fully handmade with curved scrolling iron structure, decorated with  elegant gilt wrought iron acanthus leaves and gildwood balls and bobeches.. Good age related condition, the six arms have the same shape and structure but slightly different sizes, with minor losses, missing giltwood balls in four of item. The gilding of the arms is in good condition, excellent feature in case of their use as sconces, overturning the irons compared to their original use. Some small lacks in the leaves of the crowns of the bobeches, as visible in the picture details. Northern Italy, 1700.
