About the Item
A striking and high quality pair of French 19th century Louis XVI st. Ormolu sconces. Each three arm sconce is centered by a lower backplate with a reeded design flanked by large scale laurel branches tied with a ribbon. Above is a stunning reserve displaying a foliate rosette below a wonderful and richly chased woven basket from where the three arms branch out. The scrolled arms are accented at the center by acanthus leaves and lead to wonderfully detailed foliate saucers below the candle cups showcasing elegant swaging garlands. Above the arms are exceptional and highly detailed urns with woven bases and foliate lids finished at the top with charming acorn finials. All original gilding throughout.
