Swedish Bell-Shaped Perforated Wall Lamp No. 6972 in Brass from Boréns in Borås
About the Item
This is the Swedish wall lamp no. 6972 from Boréns Aktiebolag in Borås.
It comes in a bell-shaped shade with a perforated pattern. In the dark, the light that shines out of the tiny punched holes creates a beautiful, mysterious pattern on the wall behind the lamp.
The lampshade is mounted on a bent brass shaft and can be directed up and down as desired and the shaft turned sideways.
The bulb holder is model E14
The lamp is marked, partly with the manufacturer's label “Borèns Aktiebolag Tranås 6972” and also the S-mark, both labels at the inside of the wall mount.
The S-marking was founded in 1926 and until 1994 there was a state requirement which meant that in principle all electrical installation equipment to be installed in Sweden had to be tested and approved by SEMKO for S-marking.
Boréns Aktiebolag I Tranås was a Swedish manufacturer of luminaires, founded 1924.
They were known for their high quality of products. The company closed down 1985.

This is the 1920s Swedish Grace cabinet designed by Axel Einar Hjorth for AB Svenska Möbelfabrikerna in Bodafors, Sweden.
It comes builded in two sections. Made of birch and veneered with dark brown stained birch.
The inside and the shelves are veneered with natural birch.
Behind the doors hides two removable shelves in each section.
The front is richly ornamented and the two front legs resemble paws.
In an age of 100 years it still has a beautiful strong, vibrant colors without any fading.
Marked "AB Svenska Möbelfabrikerna Bodafors" with a metal plate inside the upper right door.
The locks work and one key is included.

Axel Einar Hjorth worked in his younger years at Svenska Möbelfabrikerna in Bodafors, before he in 1927 got employed as chief designer at Nordiska Kompaniet.
Thus, the cabinet was designed before 1927 and it’s fair to assume the cabinet was manufactured sometime in the 1920s.
