Alingsås 1950s Hand-Painted Swedish Modern Floral Ceramic Table Lamp
About the Item
Hand-sculpted and hand-decorated multicolored floral glaze Swedish Mid-Century Modern stoneware table lamp by Swedish Alingsås in the 1950s. Large rose, pink and rosewood colored flowers with surrounding leaves of blue, green, white and grey. Hunter green top and base with white and dark grey stripes. Dark grey with blue and white overlay striped background made with sgraffito technique developed by Polish designer Marian Zawadzki in the 1950s. This technique consists of carving fine lines into the background of a design through a light colored glaze down to a dark grey clay slip. Manufactured in the small Swedish town of Alingsås in the late 1950s-early 1960s. Switch on fitting. E27 bulb. In beautiful condition.
