About the Item
An antique tortoise shell lamp with mother of pearl is rare and beautiful. This lamp is a wonderful example of the end of the art nouveau and start of the art deco period with its curved elliptical design and organic palette. The lamp is trimmed in brass at the top and has a black painted oval base. The tortoise shell and mother of pearl veneer are outstanding, and the finial is original..
Of oval section with an oval shaped brass neck, clad in bricked tiles of tortoise shell and mother of pearl, on a stepped black painted wooden base. The lamp is probably European circa 1920, according to our appraisers.
The lamp is 25 inches tall, 8 inches wide and 5 inches deep. It presents extremely well for its age. Lampshade is for display only.
