About the Item
Late 19th century hand carved piano leg fashioned as a table lamp. The primitive yet detailed carving speaks to an era of craftmanship and quality. Striped of its black lacquer, the beauty of the marks, scratches and mishandling over the years create a handsome patina enhanced by a fresh waxing. We have mounted it to a black waxed wood base and chosen French wiring where the electrical wire comes out directly from the lamp socket in the fashion of most European table and floor lamps. The cord is a black twisted rayon adding to the decorative elegance of the lamp.

While the examples of lamp shades are not included in the sale of the piano leg lamp, we suggest a European shaped shield shade or empire shade that has an 18" bottom diameter.
