Carved Wood Piano Leg Table Lamp

About the Item

Late 19th century hand carved piano leg fashioned as a table lamp. The primitive yet detailed carving speaks to an era of craftmanship and quality. Striped of its black lacquer, the beauty of the marks, scratches and mishandling over the years create a handsome patina enhanced by a fresh waxing. We have mounted it to a black waxed wood base and chosen French wiring where the electrical wire comes out directly from the lamp socket in the fashion of most European table and floor lamps. The cord is a black twisted rayon adding to the decorative elegance of the lamp. Table M Lamp Restoration looks for objects from all over the world that have fallen to the wayside to create beautiful table lamps. This piano leg is no exception. While the examples of lamp shades are not included in the sale of the piano leg lamp, we suggest a European shaped shield shade or empire shade that has an 18" bottom diameter.

Early Marbro Urn Lamps with Green Painted Roman Ruins - a Pair

This early pair of Marbro urn table lamps feature beautiful Roman ruins, trees, plants and grasses. The urns are most likely Italian. They retain their original mogul base sockets (E39 lamp base) and electrical cord. Both have been inspected and are in good working order. The glazing has natural imperfections which happens during the firing process. These imperfections are not defects and are considered to be a part of the overall beauty of the lamps.
