About the Item

An Ellis Pottery ceramic lamp with Australian blackwood base and a turned myrtle stem stained to a deep walnut finish. We love these ceramic and timber Ellis lamps for their Classic pared-down midcentury aesthetic. This one is in excellent condition with original Bakelite switch. Rewired with black cloth cord. Tested and tagged, safe to Australia's high electrical standards and suitable for use in the US with a simple change of plug. The bulb fixture is a Bayonet Cap (BC), not Edison screw fixture. It takes one B22 Bayonet Cap (BC) bulb, anything up to 75 watts is OK, but we suggest a high quality LED for both energy savings and less heat generation. The lamp is sold without a shade. We've taken images of the lamp with a variety of shades to show you how versatile this base can be, moving from a striking chinoiserie shade to Scandinavian simplicity and to a French themed textured vintage shade. If you're wondering about the availability of Bayonet Cap LEDs, we will provide the correct bulb plus one spare, free of charge, along with information about where to buy them online. The height given in the details below is to the top of the bulb holder. A NOTE ON WIRING: This item is rewired to Australian/NZ Standard and has been tested and tagged safe for a nominal 230v system (supply of anywhere from 210-240v). Australian and New Zealand buyers must consult a registered electrician for hard wired installation or safety tag will be void. Plug and play if this item is a lamp. This light is compatible with European 220v electrical systems but wire colours may differ and correct bulbs may or may not be readily available. Please check with your bulb supplier before purchase - many are available online. Consult your electrician for hard wired installation or to change bulb sockets (or for plug change if this item is a lamp). In the US and anywhere a 110v system is in place - this light may or may not require rewiring to meet your local safety standards and correct bulbs may or may not be readily available. Please use the information provided to seek advice on compatibility from your locally registered electrician before purchase. They will be able to advise on the potential need for rewiring, bulb socket changes, or if this item is a lamp, for plug change. Before purchase, please check with your bulb supplier - many are available online. Use of LED bulbs is recommended (to prevent overheating and reduce power usage).

A large Hollywood Regency lamp with stylised decoration, standing 32 inches tall to the top of the shade. In keeping with the 1940s-1950s decorative style which saw large lamps move into the domestic market, this lamp is influenced by the scale and themes of Hollywood blockbuster set design. These make fabulous lamps for cocktail lounges or theatres of public entertainment such as bars, restaurants or cafes.
