French 19th Century Louis XVI St. Ormolu and Brèche Violette Marble Lamp
About the Item
A beautiful French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and Brèche Violette marble lamp. The lamp is raised by an elegant circular base with a lovely curved shape, a fine bottom ormolu fillet, and a striking wrap around oak leaf band with charming acorns. The elegantly curved Brèche Violette marble body displays a striking and most decorative spiral fluted design adorned with an impressive central smooth family crest like cabochon reserve with remarkable swaging foliate garlands and a stunning lion mask at the front. Exceptional scrolled handles lead up each side adorned with impressive acanthus leaves leading to the curved neck with a tied fluted wrap around band and pierced top cap with a graceful cut rose. All original gilt throughout.
