French 19th Century Louis XVI Style Ormolu and Porcelain Lamp, Signed by Sèvres
About the Item
A most impressive and large scale French 19th century Louis XVI st. ormolu and porcelain lamp, signed by Sèvres. The lamp is raised by striking triangular shaped porcelain base with concave sides and decorated with fine gold painted filets. Above, the tripod ormolu support displays elegant hooves with large acanthus leaves and richly chased eagle heads with a ring in their beaks. The turquoise colored porcelain body displays a bottom acorn finial, reeded design and is encased by intricately detailed swaging vines with lovely grape leaves and grape clusters. Above is an fine ormolu top cap with an elegant gadrooned design. All original gilt throughout.
