About the Item
French vintage (early 20th century) Empire style cast brass table lamp with custom linen shade. This striking fixture contains a multitude of references across the Mediterranean world: a stylized female figure for a base dressed like a royal of ancient Egypt, elevating two Neoclassical arms ending in large urns parallel her head from which the faux candles rise, diffusing the light under a rectangular linen shade. The square pedestal is enhanced with a low-relief applique of a laurel wreath tied with a trailing bow. As a single lamp, this would work well in a variety of interiors and rooms such as for a desk lamp or on a side table to appreciate the sculptural quality of the figure. Professionally cleaned and rewired adding a new fabric cord with in-line switch and beige linen shade to diffuse the light from candelabra-base bulbs. Please view the detailed images to see more.
