This glorious Italian Florentine lamp was a custom decorator piece and sold only to interior decorators back in the fifties. This amazingly intricate cast metal design gives the appearance of delicate plaster, but offers the durability of metal!
Exactly what the decorators ordered. This piece has a marvelous antique finish and the Florentine style employed here is absolutely delectable! It feels like this lamp was on Leonardo Da Vinci's desk or in the Medici library!
In the mid century period interior decorators were still catered too and many furnishings makers worked exclusively with them and "contract" orders, providing pieces light years ahead of the wares available to the general public. This gave decorators another raison d'etre, because they had access to superior furnishings which the general public could not obtain!
Now you can obtain this magnificent decorator piece! This lamp is an extremely rare, custom lamp from Medici Ltd and dates to around 1958-1962. It is a breathtaking design and would make a superb style break in any interior!
The lamp features a single socket with a 3-way switch allowing for 3 levels of illumination when used with 3-way bulbs. Silk damask shade with great detail and fringes. Displays beautifully!
These lamps were hand painted and no two lamps were the same. This has a antique ivory and gold finish. Flaws to the finish were used to simulate centuries of age!
