Pair of Kaiser Leuchten no. 6886 ‘President’ Table Lamps, 1960s, Bauhaus

About the Item

Very rare set of two (!) identical model no. 6886 ‘President’ table lamps or desk lights by Kaiser Leuchten Germany. These lovely lamps heavily resemble the works of Mid-century Modern designers Louis Kalff (for Philips) or Jaques Adnet, but have a definite Bauhaus twist: they can be adjusted in height. Executed in black enameled steel and chrome, both lamps retain their original sockets (2 x E14 / E12 Edison screw fit bulb holders). Wiring is redone and run both on 110 / 230 volt to fit EU standard — adaptable on demand for USA standard. Dimensions: Diameter 35 cm x H 42 - 58 cm The lamps are in good original vintage condition with consistent with use and age. Nice patina on chrome and paint, very discrete denting on the top of the shade (please see the images), but hardly noticeable. Free shipping is negociable.

By RAAK, Otto Wach
Located in CULEMBORG, GE
This stunning R-60 ‘Cricket’ table lamp was designed in 1962 by Otto Wasch for Raak Amsterdam. It consists of a polished metal cilinder with two pins in it, a touch of minimalist genius. By changing the postion of the pins, the lamp can be placed in either a higher or lower postion. Its resemblance with a cricket is uncanny. The listed Cricket lamp is in original condition, wear consistent with age and use. The on- and off switch still at the bottom of the lamp. Wiring and plug have been renewed in the days, it carries a European plug and can be made suitable for use in the USA by changing the plug or using a holiday converter. Huizenga NV Bastille Chair by Piet Blom, 1960s, De Stijl, Rietveld, Mondrian
By Piet Blom
Located in CULEMBORG, GE
Piet Blom was a famous Dutch architect, mostly known for his iconic Cube houses in Rotterdam and Helmond, The Netherlands. One of his early assignments was the design of a student restaurant for the Technical University Twente, called the ‘Bastille’. For this restaurant, Blom also designed the chairs, to be manufactured by Huizenga in 1965. Made of black and red lacquered wood, the ‘Bastille’ chair features a straight structure, round seat and curved back and legrest. With its unique constructivist shape, the chair is often seen as a homage to Gerrit Rietveld and De Stijl. Only 400 of these chairs were ever made and less than 200...
