About the Item
The wood block and turned appearance of this lamp are all an illusion because it is made of pottery, not wood. It is so unusual. As to where this was made, that's hard to say; the silhouette - with its ring, bun and block 'turning' - is comparable to turnings on wooden furniture made in the US, England and in Europe.
It is vintage, probably mid 20th Century.
Of circular section with flaring incised neck, reel and bun turned standard over a squared block, all on a socle-style foot. The lamp is made of pottery with faux wood graining overall. Surmounted by a cylindrical linen fabric shade, possibly original to the piece.
The overall height is 21-7/8 inches and it is 9 inches at the widest point.

The Stiffel lamp is eggshell color and ovoid shape. The contrast of the burnished brass and the light tan porcelain is beautiful. The circumference of the lamp is decorated with two green stripes.
