About the Item

A gorgeous vintage handmade ceramic stoneware table lamp base made by Rolf Palm, Höganäs, Sweden. This lamp is a classic, elegant and timeless lamp. The shape is as most of his work simple, it has a contemporary feeling, yet it is the glazing that is making it so special, it has a pale green colour on one side which fades into a pale blue on the other side with eggshell glazing which gives a sophisticated look and this will be a centerpiece in any interior setting. It is 25cm (9.84") high including the lamp fitting and around 10cm (3.93") in diameter and in a perfect condition. The price includes free shipping. NOTE: It is has been rewired with an electrical plug suitable for Swedish and most of EU standard and it needs an E27 screw bulb. Lamp shades are not included. Rolf Palm – master of art pottery and a renowned sculptor from Höganäs, Sweden. Rolf Palm (1930–2018) was one of Sweden’s and Scandinavia’s leading ceramic artists in the 20th century. After his education and early work years at the Höganäs factory, here he learnt the skills needed to start his own studio in the area. Rolf became an exceptional master of throwing and especially in outstanding glazing, leading to unique stoneware pieces with rustic and rough expression. His artistry is represented at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design and other leading museums in the world. Palm's ceramics are rough and rustic and often with intricate glazes. Not infrequently with an oxblood red or a matt blue glaze which often appears in his production. Mainly bowls, vases and occasionally lamps appear on the market, but very rarely sculptures. Thus has his work today become very sought after, especially for those who admire not just mid-century modern art but also can appreciate his talent for simple but functional design, with exceptional glaze, making the objects true work of art.
