About the Item
The OBSIDIAN LAMP Collection highlights two main materials: glass and copper. Glass, together with the mirror, acts as a light diffuser and reflector, echoing the way obsidian stones were polished and used as mirrors in ancient times. Copper, on the other hand, remains above modernity and stays solid without abandoning its traditional side. Using these two strong materials to reflect light makes them even brighter than they already are.

HOMA
HOMA is a contemporary design atelier based in Vienna and Istanbul which specializes in glass fusing, hand-blown glass, and advanced mirroring techniques. HOMA has become renowned for its unique perspective on mirrors, home interior objects, furniture and lighting, all created using multidisciplinary techniques, meticulous research, and experimentation.
Founder and Creative Director Tugba Koc, trained artist and interior architect, works with every day and natural materials like glass, stone and metals, pushing for the very transformation of their actual DNA while sculpting and shaping them by hand into one of a kind three-dimensional design objects. In celebrating the beauty of metamorphosis, the atelier’s resulting pieces are like profound artistic statements that elevate an object of function to the status of art.
