About the Item
Pair of tall ceramic table lamps designed by Marianne Starck for the Danish ceramic workshop Michael Andersen & Søn (MA&S) on the Danish island Bornholm. Made ca 1960s.
The lampbase shows a stylised leaf or flower decor in blue and gray. The glaze has a crackle pattern which is part of its expression. It´s the so-called Persia glaze which was developed at the Michael Andersen & Søn by Daniel Andersen in the 1930s. MA&S won a gold medal for this at the World´s Fair in Brussel in 1935.
Included is a set of new lampshades designed and made in Denmark. They are made of woven fabric with some texture and it is off white. They have top covers so they will spread a cosy light downwards.
The lamps are fully marked on bottom. One wears the original MA&S papersticker on the bottom, the other on the neck.
Both lampbases are in a very good vintage condition.
