About the Item

This matched pair of solid cast bronze figural cherub oil lamp bases are unmarked, but presumed to be made in the United States during the Victorian period. The bases are very detailed in their casting on all four sides and feature figural snakes or serpents that sit in the raised arms of each cherub base. As photographed, there is only one original burner and one amber font, so these bases can be fitted with tops of your choosing, or enjoyed as well executed decorative sculptures.

Condition:

Wear consistent with age and use. Minor losses. The bases were cast in two pieces and there is some rust present to the nuts and bolts that hold them together. One backing plate to one of the collars is missing. Dimensions refer to the base with the collar on as burners, fonts and chimneys differ.
