Pair of Vintage Japonesque Faux Lacquer Painted Glass

About the Item

A pair of vintage Japonesque faux lacquer painted glass table lamps mid to third-quarter of the 20th Century and stunning. Of circular section and baluster form, with flared tops, stylized gold leaf decoration on black grounds, on circular feet. Unmarked. The base has a carved wood decorative design. The underside of the lamp has an orangish felt covering at the base. The gold flashing or rings are at the bottom of the glass portion of the lamp and at the top of the neck. Looks like they might have been vases at one point. The glass is almost translucent. I do not know how to describe the gold detailing, which wraps around the lamp bodies. There is black etching on the flowers and the leaves. There are dual sockets and matching finials that are original. The stem or very narrow part of the lamps are "magnetic," the finials are wood, the metal over the glass bodies is not magnetic and there is a little connecting area with a crack in the pictures and seems to be plastic. The lamp bodies are the most interesting feature. Lamps work perfectly. Unmarked.

  • Vintage Signed Ivory White Porcelain and Gilt Hand Painted Table Lamp
    Located in Lomita, CA
This lamp is so special, so elegant and hard to find. The palette is attractive in ivory with leaves in various shades of green and gray that appear to be falling on this vintage botanical hand-painted porcelain vasiform table lamp. This is attributed to Europe from the mid 20th century. There is a signature painted with a brush near the base of the lamp. The lamp's base is porcelain with gilt trim that is wearing in some sections. The plug is older and dates to mid-century or earlier. It presents well with an added white shade that is not included. It measures 33 inches tall from base to finial and 5 inches by 5 inches wide. The lamp's harp is old and unattractive with deep oxidation, and it will be replaced before delivery unless the buyer asks otherwise. Provenance This lamps was purchased at a Pacific Coast Highway...

    Located in Lomita, CA
The hexagon shape and the elegant design of floral and botannical elements make this lamp a standout on a white background. The lamp is in beautiful condition without condition issues. The hexagon shape is architectural and the lamp makes a dramatic statement with its simple dual tones. The hand painting includes flower faces, boughs and vines in a gold and tan tone. The design is reminiscent of earthenware containers and jars used to store drugs and herbs known as Albarelli. These jars were used to hold medicines and other powders and became popular in Italian apothecaries in the middle ages. The indivudual designs helped the chemist...
