About the Item

Trained in Montreal at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts, Raphael Giarrusso is awarded a grant and settles in Paris in 1948. In 1953, he left painting and became an interior designer into the Accolay Group founded by André Boutaud with whom he worked for 10 years. However, at the end of his collaboration, he came back to painting and participate in the Salon of Modern Art in Paris in 1961. In 1963, he settled in Vermenton as a ceramist/sculptor. Since then, he regularly showed his works in the Porte de Versailles fair. Raphael Giarrusso is known for his stylized figures from medieval inspiration, always joyful and poetic. The feature of his ceramic lighting has both the regular bulb under the shade and interior lighting so the pierced ceramic allows light to come through creating wonderful patterns of light. Both the upper standard socket as well as the interior candelabra socket has been replaced for USA use. It is on a three way switch allowing for just the bottom, just the top or both lights to be on. Overall size: 14"W X 14"D X 25.75"H. Base only: 9"W x 9"D x 16" to the bottom of the socket. Shade only: 14"W x 14"D x 11.25"H. Rewired for USA, E26 bulb.

Imposing Ceramic Table Lamp by Robert Perot
By Robert Perot
Located in Saint-Ouen, IDF
Impressive and tall ceramic table lamp made by Robert Perot, stamped on the back with his manufacture name "VIEUX MOULIN VALLAURIS". In his early years Robert Perot worked on the restauration of the Reims cathedral, this influence is clear when we see how the main decor of this lamp reminds us of the stained glass frame we can find on such monuments. ROBERT PÉROT (1931-2003) Robert Pérot is a ceramist and a sculptor from the golden age of ceramics in Vallauris who pursued his studies at the School of fine Arts in Reims from 1946 to 1949, specializing in sculpture. During this period, he encountered influential figures such as Jean-Claude Malarmey and Dominique Baudart. While working with stone, the young artist contributed to the restoration of the Reims Cathedral. Gifted with a talent for drawing, he further honed his skills in Paris at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière. Following his Parisian studies, he assumed the role of the molding workshop at the Champagne-Provence pottery...
