About the Item

‘Boule’ table lamp in cream glazed crackled ceramic created by Jean Besnard for Ruhlmann. Monogrammed "R" and numbered 30(...)4 on the reverse. Height given includes lampshade. The lampshade was restored. The base is in the original condition. The wiring has been redone. ​Émile-Jacques Ruhlmann (1879-1933) was a French furniture designer and interior decorator and one of the most important and influential figures of the Art Deco movement, even considered by some the godfather of French Art Deco. His designs are characterized through elegance and purity of form, made with precious materials and expert craftsmanship, combining luxuriousness with modernity.
