This is a vintage anglepoise lamp. An English, steel and aluminium desk or architect's light with bibliophile base, dating to the mid-20th century, circa 1960.

Steel and aluminium anglepoise frame with painted grey finish
Bound books to base in pleasingly vintage condition
Fully-adjustable anglepoise frame with four springs
Useful adjustment range of 97cm from its lowest to highest extent
Articulated lampshade can double back on itself to light the base
