This is a vintage decorative accent lamp. An English, cast alloy and copper converted medical heat lamp, dating to the early 20th century, circa 1930. Of fascinating form and decorative appeal, with a delightful finish Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order Cast alloy frame presents dark grey tonality with foliate pattern detail Striking polished copper reflector shows warm amber hues Skilfully converted from a Barber Dark Emitter infra red heat lamp In period, the lamp was used to treat ailments at home using the principle of phototherapy Cast Alloy roundel to centre reads 'The Barber Infra-Red Dark Emitter, 230/250 Volts Distinctive wire cage sits proudly ahead of the reflector plate Raised upon pair of small feet at the corner of the frame and a rear handle support Barber-Bournville of Birmingham specialised in heat lamps in the early to mid 20th century Complete with a standard bayonet bulb and an in-line remote control Quality, braided length of cable and a British Standards compliant 3-pin plug This is a distinctive vintage accent lamp, wonderfully converted from its original purpose to provide a charming decorative piece.
