Vintage Oluce Nerolia Table Lamp in Clear and Orange Glass, Italian Design
About the Item
Founded in 1945, right after WW2, Oluce is currently the oldest still operating light manufacturer in Italy. Its name is the contraction of the founder's surname initial, "O" as in Giuseppe Ostuni, and "Luce", Italian for light. Throughout its eight decades of history, Oluce has produced some of the most famous and sought after designer lamps.
The present table lamp comes from the most recent production of the brand, having been launched in 2001. It's a model 209 "Nerolia", penned by Italian designer Ferdi Giardini and crafted from polychrome clear and orange glass. Vaguely resembling an hourglass, the lamp is operated through a dimmer switch, perfectly working.
The Oluce sticker underneath the base is still visible and crisp, confirming the origin of the piece. The glass is well preserved and shows no dents or cracks. Only minor and expectable signs of use are present throughout the lamp.
