English William IV Giltwood Convex Mirrors of Unusual Form, Pair, circa 1830

A rare and exceptional pair of circa 1830, English late George IV, early William IV period convex mirrors having carved frames in original gilding of unusual thickly exaggerated 'gadrooned' design with ebonized smooth fillets and original convex mirror glasses measuring 14.25" in diameter. Provenance: Personal collection of famed interior designer and philanthropist Mica Ertegun (1926 -2023).

    Wear consistent with age and use. Original gilt finish with highly unusual alternating red, white, and blue boles showing through in thinner areas of gilt-wear, typical, but minor historical repairs and gesso cracks, original convex mirror plates with areas of silvering-loss.
